  • Watching a good mother serama teaching her chicks how to find food and sand bathe etc.

  • Natural hatching will help the serama chicks grow up, healthy and strong compare to those chicks producing via incubator

"Does Anyone Still Remember me or my name? I'm not qualified for Breeding? Well, here are the answers to these questions" WoM by Puteri RImba 01.
She is the sister of our handsome male "Putera Rimba 01" and born to our breeding pair of yellow serama. Despite her beautiful body posture and color, she was sold to the serama enthusiast from Kemaman, Terenganu a few months ago. Eventually she was returned back to us due to the new owner experienced some issue on the "egg laying process" for her and his request was accepted by Group Serama Negeri (GSN). Then, we gave him a one month old pullet as a replacement for Puteri Rimba 01 at no additional cost to him and he is very happy about it. However, we strongly believe that she is "QUALIFIED" for breeding and finally it has been proved. She was refreshed and isolated by Zan in Kedah resulting huge improvements in her breeding process. We hope that we can see his offspring in a month's time. Last but not least, Nothing is Impossible!!!

You can separate your serama chicks from their mother at any time, however they prefer to stay with her until they're properly grown up. If you do want to separate them, your best bet is to wait until the chicks have a decent covering of feathers at about 4 - 6 weeks of age - then they don't need any extra heat from their mother. If you really want to separate them from the mother, you may need to provide some heat until they are 5 or 6 weeks' old to keep them healthy and protecting them from mosquito bites as well. Perhaps you can use a heat lamp in your indoor chicken coop. However, GSN still follow this traditional method (#6weekswithmother) because it has been so successful.

All of the things you considerately do for your Serama, your first consideration must be for its food and nutrition. Without well balanced nutrition, a Serama’s general health will slowly decline, vitamin insufficiencies will leave it at risk to illness and disease and its life span will be shortened. An unhealthy Serama is temperamental and might not be qualified for the serama show. A sickly serama simply cannot enjoy a good life. Hence these are the 5 nutritious foods are perfect for Serama birds.

Meal worm (ulat ikan)

Fish Oil Supplements (ubat minyak ikan)

Paddy Rice (padi/beras hancur)

Earthworms (cacing tanah)

Weaver Ant Eggs (telur kerengga)

Place serama under the warmth of the sun often times just feels great for them. I trust you have heard that we get our Vitamin D from doing this as well. However do you know exactly how the process works?

  • Sunbathing is an important part of the general grooming process. It allows Serama chicken to keep their fur in good condition

  • It allows them to make Vitamin D naturally from Sunlight exposure to their body

  • Sunbathing is specially important during molting when serama sometimes feel itchy and uncomfortable as the new pin feathers break through the skin

  • All serama chickens adapt their own posture for sun bathing. Some stand and close their wings while others may lay flat on the sand or ground. In both cases, body feathers are often fluffed up and the feathers along the wings are spread out. Besides just soaking in the sun, these postures serve other important purposes.

  • Besides the healthy benefits that go with sunbathing, it is also hard not to admit that the behavior just looks awesome. It is not everyday that you get to see these seramas sitting still with wings stretched and their innocent look.

The scrap metal (Besi Buruk) female with her chick
  • The female serama does most of the work for you and you don’t worry about turning the eggs manually or control the temperature of incubators

  • A broody female serama will usually hatch out a good percentage of eggs than you will get in a brooding machine

  • Natural hatching will help the serama chicks grow up, healthy and strong compare to those chicks producing via incubator

  • The mother serama will always be able to protect her chicks and teach them how to drink and eat

  • Nothing beats watching the mother serama take her babies out to exploration, or seeing their little heads poke out from between her wings, or watching them walk all over her back while she sits patiently

5 Surprising benefits of having a Serama you didn’t know about!!!

1. You’ll feel less stressed
There have been lots of researches that have shown how pets decrease stress levels. Petting your Serama, playing with your Serama and simply watching your serama’s pride walk can reduce your stress each day.

2. Your social life may improve
People are more likely to stop and talk with you when you are taking them to the park or vacation spot. It also provides several ways for you to meet new people in the neighbourhood, such as at the Serama show, the vet and the coffee shop. And, of course, seramas are always a great topic of conversation.

3. You will feel safer
Rooster (male serama) will crow at all time and in response to a range of seemingly not safe, like a sound of a vehicle at midnight (car, truck, bikes) or someone walking into their coop which in results increase your sense of security.

4. You’re less likely to feel depressed
The benefits of Serama ownership extend your mental health as well. Serama owners are less likely to be depressed and caring for a Serama helps relieve symptoms of depression and encourage people to be more positive.

5. You can make money part-time or full-time breeding Serama ($$$)
Select the right and quality serama is a must for beginners. Buy a pair of serama from trusted breeders / sellers and put it in shows to prove it. And then you can sell them if you get a good offer or reserve for breeding project. If you want to be a good Serama breeder and make good money, and have a great name for yourself that others will pass along for you, please ensure that you have done your internal Research & Development (R&D) before you breed. Good luck!

Here is some of the best health advise to manage your Serama if you experience problems removing the dried chicken poop stuck on their butts.

Solution #1 Need to soak her in a tub of warm water (about 33 - 35 Degrees C) and get that all cleaned off. After the cleaning process is complete see if it happens again, get a pair of Gloves and just rinse her/his bottom side under the water until it's all disappeared. Perhaps you can add some dish washing liquid.

Solution #2 Use a raw cotton ball (if available) to apply some olive/veggie oil around her butt, so the poo does not stick again

Solution #3 Simply feed them this herbal remedy capsule "Ubat Hijau" once a week and eventually all health problems will be resolved

Hi friends, i believe all of you heard it before - "Exercise is the best Medicine" but as runners we know that we feel our best when we are training and probably our worst when we go a few days without running. As usual i was running with my cousin on last weekend and took some pictures of amazing views. It was a challenging running trail and we managed to complete the run in 41 minutes (8.1KM). I used to run in Jalan Peretak (Kuala Kubu Bharu) the place where they built the huge water DAM in Selangor. Usually after run, we sat down on top of the hill and could feel the cold breeze blowing continuously. Last but not least, this place would be a great place for all runner/joggers. Those who are interested can join us every weekend.:)
